This is a trip! Thank you Michael!!! I'm not sure how you came across my video, but you've given me some serious motivation. Like John Paterini, I never expected to get this type of attention.

Listening to K'Naan for the first time was a liberating experience. As I delved deeper into his music, my insecurity as an artist (especially as a Mexican/Indigenous person trying to do hip hop) began to fade. Also, during this time of spiritual growth and enlightenment, I ran into a quote by Bill Cosby that reads, "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone." Cosby's words helped me believe in myself and appreciate K'Naan's narrative even more.

The Dusty Foot's transparency is inspiring. When I see him in interviews or doing live sets he conveys the very best of what freedom means. He's simply a kind soul (but not a softy) who doesn't hesitate to articulate audaciously. Whether it's about young love or ancient blood shed, he doesn't sugar coat, commodify, or dramatize like other fools do.

I can't wait to see the next wave of artists who find "inspiration from the most heinous of situations" and who strive to spread the message of peace, love, and wisdom without having to resort to extremism, tunnel-vision, or other wack or lame ideas.
